Create, design, explore and turn seeds into beautiful artwork! 🌻🎨

Our Seed Art Club is a creative and hands-on club where children can discover how a simple collection of seeds can be transformed into colourful, textured and imaginative works of art.

Children will work with a wide range of seeds, exploring their different colours, shapes, sizes and textures to create their own unique designs. From animals and flowers to seasonal pictures and imaginative patterns, children will have the freedom to experiment and develop their own ideas.

The club combines art, nature, creativity and practical skills, making it a wonderful opportunity for children to create something different from traditional art materials.

Each project can have a different theme, giving children the opportunity to explore a variety of designs, including:

Children can combine different seeds to create texture, patterns and colour, making each finished piece completely unique.

🌱 What seeds might we use?

Depending on availability, children may work with a variety of seeds, such as:

• Sunflower seeds

• Pumpkin seeds

• Poppy seeds

• Sesame seeds

• Chia seeds

• Flax seeds

• Lentils

• Peas

• Beans

• Corn

• Rice and other suitable natural materials

Seeds will be selected carefully and used as art materials rather than for consumption during craft activities.

📚 What learning takes place?

Seed Art provides opportunities for children to develop artistic, scientific and practical skills.

Children will explore the characteristics of different seeds, comparing their size, shape, colour, texture and appearance. This introduces children to simple scientific observation and classification skills.

The activity also supports mathematical learning, including sorting, counting, comparing sizes, recognising patterns and creating symmetrical designs.

Children will develop their understanding of art and design, learning how different materials can be combined to create colour, texture, pattern and visual effects.

The process of carefully selecting, arranging and attaching individual seeds helps develop fine motor control, concentration and hand-eye coordination.

Children will also practise planning and problem-solving. They may need to decide which seeds are most suitable for different parts of their design or work out how to create a particular shape using natural materials.

The club can also encourage discussion about plants, seeds, growing and the natural environment, helping children understand that the small seeds they are using as art materials are part of the life cycle of plants.

Seed Art Club gives children the chance to transform simple natural materials into beautiful works of art. With different themes and designs to explore, every session provides an opportunity to create, experiment and discover something new.

💷 Fee: Block bookings are £6.25 per week or ad-hoc sessions are £7.00 per session

📌 Spaces: Limited spaces available – early booking is recommended.

Seed types and themes will vary from session to session. Children will use suitable materials under supervision. Please inform us of any relevant allergies before your child attends, particularly if food-grade seeds are being used as craft materials.
