Our Photography Club is a fun and creative club where children can learn the basics of photography while exploring their surroundings and capturing interesting images.
During the spring term, children will discover how to use a camera or suitable device safely and responsibly while learning how to look at the world from different perspectives. They will experiment with close-ups, colours, textures, shapes, patterns, light and composition to create their own collection of photographs.
The club encourages children to slow down, observe carefully and discover interesting photographic opportunities in everyday surroundings.
🌷 What will we be photographing in spring?
Children may photograph:
🌱 New shoots and seedlings emerging from the ground.
🌷 Spring flowers such as daffodils, crocuses, tulips and primroses.
🌸 Blossom on trees.
🐝 Bees and other pollinating insects, from a safe distance.
🦋 Butterflies and other spring insects.
🐦 Spring birds and signs of bird activity.
🌳 Trees beginning to grow new leaves.
🍃 Interesting leaves, plants and natural textures.
🌧️ Raindrops and puddles.
☀️ Spring sunshine and shadows.
🌈 Colours found around the school grounds.
🪨 Interesting rocks, stones and natural objects.
🪵 Textures in bark, wood and natural materials.

Children may take part in creative challenges such as:
🌈 Colour Hunt – photograph something representing each colour of the rainbow.
🔍 Close-Up Challenge – take a photograph of something so close that others have to guess what it is.
🌸 Spring Nature Challenge – capture a collection of signs that spring has arrived.
📐 Lines and Shapes Challenge – find interesting shapes and patterns.
☀️ Light and Shadow Challenge – photograph interesting shadows.
💧 Reflection Challenge – find and photograph reflections.
🐝 Wildlife Watch – safely photograph signs of insects and wildlife.
🌳 Texture Hunt – capture different natural textures.
👀 Different Perspectives – photograph the same object from above, below and from the side.
📸 Best Photograph Challenge – choose and explain your favourite photograph.
🖼️ Mini Exhibition – create a selection of photographs for a display.

📚 What learning takes place?
Children will learn the basic principles of photography, including composition, focus, perspective, framing, light and subject placement.
They will explore how changing their position or the angle of the camera can completely change a photograph. They will learn to think about what they want their photograph to show before pressing the shutter.
Photography also provides opportunities to develop maths and science skills, including exploring shapes, patterns, symmetry, light and shadow. Children will make observations, compare photographs and experiment with different approaches.
The spring theme provides an excellent opportunity to learn about seasonal changes and nature. Children will observe how plants develop, identify signs of spring and discover the wildlife that becomes more active as the weather changes.
Children will also learn about responsible photography, including respecting other people's privacy, asking permission before photographing people and treating wildlife and the environment with care.

Photography Club gives children the chance to explore, discover and capture the changing world around them. From delicate spring flowers and buzzing insects to fascinating textures, shadows and reflections, every session offers something new to photograph.
💷 Fee: Block bookings are 6.25 per week or ad-hoc bookings are £7.00 per session
📌 Spaces: Limited spaces available – early booking is recommended.
Photography activities will take place in safe, supervised areas. Children will use school-approved cameras or suitable devices where available. Wildlife will always be photographed from a safe and respectful distance.
