Collective Worship Leaders

Children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to become collective worship leaders. In September, each class votes for their collective worship leader.

Rev Ann commissions the new leaders during a whole school collective worship session and gives them all a holding cross. She explains to the children that our school value of courage enables us to take on new challenges.

Our collective worship leaders are responsible for lighting the candle during our daily collective worship. Throughout the year they take turns to change the cloth on the worship table in the hall so that it links to the liturgical calendar, they also ensure that the light box is displaying the current school value. They maintain and improve the reflection areas in their own classrooms. The collective worship leaders meet regularly with a member of staff to reflect on our daily collective worship and to talk about how to enhance the Christian life of the school. One of their favourite jobs is to find locations for any new crosses we receive for our Cubbington Collection of Crosses project.

As a group they attend the Christingle service at Coventry Cathedral in December. Once back in school, they are able to share what they have learnt with the rest of their class.
