Religious Education And Worldviews

At Cubbington we believe our Religious Education and Worldview lessons help children investigate and reflect on fundamental questions concerning the meaning and purpose of life and develop their knowledge of world religions and worldviews.

We teach RE and Worldviews through a multi-disciplinary approach where pupils explore a selection of core concepts that are relevant to religions and worldviews.

We have created our own schemes of work based on the SACRE Warwickshire and Coventry Agreed Syllabus and Understanding Christianity. Concepts and key questions are arranged in year groups to ensure that there is a breadth and balance of study throughout the school.

RE and Worldviews lessons are approached as a journey with pupils being invited to engage in enquiry and function as explorers as they encounter worldviews other than their own.

Our RE and Worldviews curriculum helps develop respect and sensitivity to others, in particular those with faiths and beliefs which differ from our own, to combat prejudice. The subject allows application of thinking skills, enquiry and creative learning. The curriculum is designed to develop knowledge and skills that are progressive, as well as transferable, throughout children’s time at school and beyond.
