Practical Advice for Keeping Children Safe
Cubbington Primary school is part of the Safe and Active Schools Programme that has been developed to promote and support road safety and active travel activities in schools across Warwickshire.
It is designed to help schools encourage active travel journeys whether that be for the whole journey by walking, cycling, or scooting or for part of the journey using park and stride modes.
What is the Active Travel Award and how do we complete it
Schools achieve the Active Travel Award by completing a set of road safety and active travel activities throughout the year. A handbook containing a choice of activities is provided by email and is available as a paper copy on request. Each activity has a ‘points’ value of either 1, 2 or 3 and are earned when activities are completed.
In the first few weeks of the Autumn Term, we will also ask each year group & class to complete our annual one-journey ‘hands up’ survey asking children how they are currently travelling to school.
This year we have achieved the Bronze award!
