๐ What learning takes place?
Although Messy Club is all about having fun, there are lots of valuable learning opportunities taking place.
Children will develop early science skills by observing, predicting, testing and discussing what happens during different experiments and activities. They will explore concepts such as colour mixing, texture, movement, floating and sinking, melting, absorption and simple reactions.
Creative activities help develop fine motor skills, hand strength and coordination through squeezing, pouring, mixing, scooping, spreading and manipulating different materials.
Children will also develop problem-solving skills by completing challenges, working out how materials behave and thinking about how they can change their approach to achieve a particular result.
Messy activities encourage children to use their senses, describe what they see and feel, and learn new vocabulary. Team activities also support communication, cooperation, sharing and turn-taking.
The club encourages children to understand that making mistakes is part of learning. They can experiment, try something different and discover what works best.
