Lego Club
Build, create, imagine and bring your ideas to life! 🧱✨
Our LEGO After School Club is a fun, creative and hands-on club where children can explore their imagination and develop their building skills through a variety of exciting LEGO activities and challenges.
Each session gives children the opportunity to design, build, experiment and problem-solve, with challenges ranging from individual creations to collaborative team projects. Children can follow challenges or use their own ideas to create something completely unique.
🧩 What challenges might we complete?
Challenges will vary from week to week and could include:
🏠 Build a dream house – design and construct a home with different rooms and features.
🌉 Bridge-building challenge – create a bridge strong enough to hold a given weight.
🏙️ Build a LEGO city – work together to create buildings, roads, parks and landmarks.
🚗 Design and build a vehicle – create a car, truck, boat or other vehicle.
🚀 Space challenge – build a rocket, space station or alien world.
🏰 Castle challenge – design and build a castle complete with towers and defences.
🐾 Animal challenge – construct different animals or create your own imaginary creature.
🗼 Tallest tower challenge – see who can build the tallest freestanding tower.
🌉 Longest bridge challenge – work as a team to create an impressive LEGO structure.
⚙️ Moving machines – explore how to create LEGO models with moving parts.
🧱 Copy the model – use observation and instructions to recreate a design.
🧠 Mystery build – build a model from a selection of mystery pieces.
⏱️ Timed building challenges – complete a creative challenge within a set amount of time.
👥 Team building challenges – work together to create a large-scale model.
🎨 Colour challenges – create models using specific colours or patterns.
💡 Invention challenge – invent and build something that solves a problem.
🎲 Random brick challenge – create something using a limited selection of pieces.
Children will be encouraged to think creatively and find their own solutions rather than simply copying a finished model.

📚 What learning takes place?
LEGO provides a fantastic opportunity for children to develop STEM-related skills while having fun.
Children will explore early concepts of engineering, design, structure, balance and stability as they build different models. Challenges encourage children to think about why some structures work and others don't, and how they can change their designs to make them stronger or more effective.
Children will also develop mathematical skills through counting pieces, comparing sizes, measuring structures, recognising shapes, creating patterns and exploring symmetry.
Building challenges encourage problem-solving and critical thinking. Children learn to plan, test ideas, identify problems and make changes to improve their designs.
Working on group projects develops communication, cooperation and teamwork, while individual challenges encourage independence, confidence and perseverance.
Most importantly, children learn that there isn't always one correct answer. They can experiment, make mistakes, try again and use their imagination to create something completely their own.
