swirl, dip, create and discover! 🌈✨

Our Marbling After School Club is a fun and creative club where children can explore the fascinating art of marbling. Using colourful paints or inks floated on a special surface, children will learn how to create beautiful swirling patterns before transferring their designs onto different materials and objects.

Every piece will be unique, giving children the opportunity to experiment with colours, patterns and techniques while creating artwork they can be proud of.

🎨 What might we marble?

Throughout the club, children may have the opportunity to marble a variety of different items, including:

πŸ“š What learning takes place?

Marbling provides a wonderful opportunity for children to explore art, science and creative design together.

Children will learn about colour mixing, colour combinations, patterns, shapes and movement. They will experiment with different ways of moving the paint to create swirls, waves, lines and other effects.

The activity also introduces children to simple scientific ideas, such as how different materials interact and how the paint can float on the surface before being transferred to another material.

Children will develop fine motor skills and hand control as they carefully manipulate tools and materials. They will also practise concentration and patience, as successful marbling requires careful preparation and controlled movements.

The club encourages children to experiment, make predictions and learn from the results. If a design doesn't turn out as expected, children can discuss what happened and try a different technique next time.

Most importantly, children learn to embrace creativity and understand that there is no single "right" designβ€”their finished artwork is uniquely theirs.
