📚 What learning takes place?

Chess is an excellent activity for developing critical thinking, problem-solving and mathematical reasoning.

Children will learn how each chess piece moves and how the pieces work together. They will develop an understanding of rules, sequences, patterns and spatial relationships as they play.

Chess encourages children to think ahead. Rather than simply reacting to what is happening, children learn to consider their options, predict what their opponent might do and think about the possible consequences of their own moves.

Children will develop problem-solving skills through chess puzzles and tactical challenges. They will learn to analyse a position, identify a problem and consider different ways to solve it.

The game also supports memory and concentration, as children need to remember rules, recognise familiar patterns and stay focused throughout a game.

Chess provides valuable opportunities for children to develop resilience and perseverance. Games don't always go according to plan, so children learn to review their decisions, learn from mistakes and try different strategies.

Playing against others also develops social and emotional skills, including turn-taking, patience, communication, respect and good sportsmanship.

Chess Club is a fantastic opportunity for children to discover a game that can challenge and entertain them for years to come.

Whether they are learning how the pieces move for the first time or already enjoy playing competitive games, children can develop their skills, challenge themselves and have fun in a friendly environment.
