Create, mould, build and bring your imagination to life! ✨👐

Our Modelling After School Club is a fun, hands-on creative club where children can explore different modelling materials and learn how to turn their ideas into three-dimensional creations.

Children will have the opportunity to design, mould, shape, build and decorate their own models. From animals and characters to buildings, food and imaginary creations, each session provides a new opportunity to experiment and get creative.

👐 What modelling crafts might we make?

Activities and projects may include:

  • 🐶 Model animals – dogs, cats, insects, dinosaurs and imaginary creatures.

  • 🦖 Dinosaur creations – designing and making their own dinosaurs.

  • 👾 Fantasy creatures and monsters.

  • 🍕 Miniature food models – creating pizzas, cakes, fruit and other pretend foods.

  • 🏠 Houses and buildings – designing miniature homes and structures.

  • 🌳 Trees and nature scenes.

  • 🌈 Miniature gardens.

  • 🚀 Space-themed models – rockets, planets and aliens.

  • 🧚 Fairy and fantasy scenes.

  • 🏰 Castles and medieval creations.

  • 🚗 Cars, vehicles and machines.

  • 🐠 Underwater worlds – fish, coral and sea creatures.

  • 🌋 Volcano models and imaginative landscapes.

  • 👨‍🚀 Characters and figures.

  • 🧚‍♀️ Miniature story scenes.

  • Make an animal that can stand independently.

  • Design a model that includes moving parts.

  • Create something from a mystery selection of materials.

  • Build a miniature world as a team.

  • Create a character and then design a setting for them.

  • Recreate an object by looking carefully at a picture.

  • Complete a timed modelling challenge.

  • Design something that solves a simple problem.

  • Transform recycled materials into a new creation.

  • Build, test and then improve a model.

  • Create a model that tells a story.

📚 What learning takes place?

Modelling provides children with valuable opportunities to develop creative, practical and problem-solving skills.

Children will learn how different modelling materials can be shaped, joined, moulded, textured and decorated. They will explore how to construct a stable three-dimensional model and discover how different techniques can produce different results.

The activities support fine motor development, strengthening the small muscles in the hands and improving coordination through rolling, pinching, pressing, cutting, joining and shaping materials.

Children will also develop early design and technology skills by planning what they want to make, selecting appropriate materials and thinking about how their model will be constructed.

Challenges encourage children to use problem-solving, critical thinking and perseverance. They may need to work out how to make a model stand up, how to strengthen a structure or how to change their design when something doesn't work.

There are also opportunities to explore shape, size, proportion, pattern, symmetry and measurement, helping children develop mathematical thinking through practical activities.

Group projects encourage communication, cooperation and teamwork, while individual projects help children develop independence and confidence.

🎨 Imagine it. Mould it. Make it!

Whether your child enjoys sculpting, building, designing or simply getting creative with their hands, Modelling Club provides a fantastic opportunity to turn imagination into reality.
